Luton to Istanbul. Luggage a precise 32.2 kg; I'm allowed 32 kg - couldn't weigh it at home - cheap (Swiss) scales exploded. Forgot I needed hard currency (rather than Turkish) - ten GBP for (Turkish) visa - used US $ instead.
15:00 UK time. Sat on some bus - taxi quoted 80 Lyra; I would have paid - but then the driver seemed not that bothered - so got on a bus. Some dude reading a book on parallel processing - in English - so asked him how to get to the hostel. He drew several diagrams. This bus is good. Thence metro, some sort of (Swiss) funicular, a tram. Do not know the actual [Turkish] time as yet. Have forgotten hand cream, and need a small (man) bag.
Just left Levant metro station [downtown Istanbul]. Treating big red bag like a wheelie bag, though it isn't.
